Stephanie Van Schilt is a writer, editor and podcaster based in Victoria, Australia.
Her nonfiction work and criticism has been published broadly in outlets including The Australian, the Australian Book Review, the Guardian, The Big Issue and Junkee.
Stephanie is co-host of feminist podcast Sisteria, currently producing a true crime podcast with support from Creative Victoria and previous co-host of The Rereaders podcast (2014-2016). She’s the former editor of The Lifted Brow and TV columnist for Kill Your Darlings.
Stephanie hosts regular events at ACMI, the NGV, The Wheeler Center and various festivals. Last year, Stephanie was named one of the Melbourne Writers Festivals 30 Under 30, was awarded a Wheeler Centre Hot Desk Fellowship and was recently shortlisted for Endemol Shine women’s screenwriting initiative.
In 2008, Stephanie completed a Bachelor of Arts (Hon) in Film and Television Studies, receiving 98% for her thesis on creative film criticism and the John Flaus Prize.
Stephanie has been a guest on ABC RN, 2ser, Triple R and Joy FM on various occasions, discussing all things podcasting and pop culture.
From 2007–2013 she worked as an arts program administrator at the NGV and Film Victoria and has worked as a teacher at Monash University, focusing on film and television studies, gender, arts criticism and memoir.
Stephanie regularly writes copy and completes quality assurance for a number of various corporate and government clients.
